Tie-down straps are not meant to be routed around a tire in this way. The friction could cause the webbing to fray or slip over the tire completely. Webbing should also never be routed through itself. Lastly, the non-safety-style hook could come detached from the trailer rendering the entire strap useless.
Our Solution: Ultra Pack
Instead of routing around the tire, use the Axle Straps included in the Mac's Ultra Pack to route around the truck's front and rear axles. Due to the lack of anchor points, use Chain Extensions to route through trailer stake pockets.
Bundle the Ultra Pack with Chain Extensions to save $30. Choose the Direct Hook with Chain Extension option.
